George and Nan Pollard

The Pollard Gallery is a part of the original Rhode building and the Lakeside organization. The doors were opened three years ago and was so named to honor Kenosha's famous artists.

Along with our guest artists, we feature a permanent collection of the internationally known artists, George & Nan Pollard. They have received many awards for their accomplishments, including 2006 recognition by the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Nan has illustrated over 2,000 children's books, giving life to many subjects like Curious George, Captain Kangaroo, Grizzly Adams, etc.

George has more portraits hanging in Washington, D.C. than any other portrait artist. He has worked with 5 presidents and painted the portraits of the last four sitting Wisconsin governors. We have photographs and prints of some of his 5,000 portraits and charcoals of people you will recognize.

The Gift Shop includes items by all of the above artists and more, Kenosha related books, and Pollard family art objects. The newest item is a "Don Ameche" biography. The Pollard Gallery is open from 1 - 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
